Patient: Baby Ayanna Wanjiru.
Medical Condition: congenital proximal femoral deficiency
Case Study: Right proximal femoral deficiency with a shallow Acetabulum
Proximal femoral focal deficiency is a rare congenital entity.
Two years –old, Ayanna, a Kenyan baby was referred to us for proximal femoral focal deficiency. This was on account of her shortened left lower limb from birth despite uneventful antenatal history. An examination revealed bulky left thigh with abduction of her left hip joint.
X-rays and scans evaluations showed absent left femoral capital epiphysis, with deficient proximal left femur. A diagnosis of proximal femoral focal deficiency was made. She was successfully operated and recovered well.
”We had been exploring the options of a treatment of our two years old daughter for a long time. We got in touch with some hospitals in USA and they quoted us $80,000 for the cost of the surgery. We saw Med Access advert on billboard, after interacting with them we got confidence in them to manage for daughter’s case in India….. We got the world class surgery at $ 4,200. The management of the complete case by Med Access India was wonderful… we felt your love all the time”
